John Harvey, projectionist, historian, collector and cinema equipment engineer installed his “home” theater set-up at the Neon Movies in Dayton, Ohio and properly projected three of his IB-Tech prints of: THIS IS CINERAMA, HOW THE WEST WAS WON and eventually a pink faded print of CINERAMA HOLIDAY. Visitors came from around the globe for nearly four years. The introduction was done by Larry Smith, a friend of John’s who managed and co-owned the theater. Larry now works for the Library OF Congress and John Harvey has retired. A friend of John’s, David Strohmaier, came to see the films and has gone on to spearhead the restoration of all 7 of the films made in true 3-projectror Cinerama. Fred Waller, Lowell Thomas & Hazard Buzz Reeves would be proud!
