Officials arrested Jermaine S. Westbrook II, 29, of Columbus, at 910 30th St. Apt. 8 in Parkersburg on Thursday.
According to a task force press release, Westbrook was wanted out of Ohio on four counts of felonious assault stemming from a shooting incident that occurred in Franklin County where one victim was ultimately pronounced dead.
“I was made aware of the situation just prior to the execution of the warrant,” Parkersburg Police Chief Matthew Board said. “I’m extremely proud of the work the Task Force and the U.S. Marshals have done, and what they have accomplished. They have made Parkersburg, and Wood County, a safer place to be.”
According to the press release, Damion Jackson, 32, of Columbus, was also arrested for misdemeanor warrants out of Wood County.
The press release said through the investigative efforts of the Franklin County Ohio Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Ohio Police Department, U.S. Marshals SOFAST Task Force, and the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force, Westbrook was located at the address on 30th Street.
The press release said that after Westbrook was taken into custody, the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force executed an additional search warrant at the residence where Westbrook was apprehended. The release said items found during those search warrants included; multiple firearms, ammunition, approximately 186 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a large amount of U.S. currency.
The press release said Westbrook was taken to Wood County Magistrate Court where he appeared before Magistrate J. Kuhl and was being held without bond awaiting extradition to Ohio. The press release said Jackson was released after posting a $100 cash only bond. Additional charges are pending regarding the items located during the additional search warrant.
