Tiffany Haddish Shares Her Tips For Staying Sober

On Friday (May 31), Haddish spoke to PEOPLE about how she maintains her sobriety while hosting the She Ready Foundation’s A Night Under The Stars adult prom in Los Angeles. The award-winning comedian told that outlet that she actually doesn’t crave alcohol and shared the tricks she uses to stay away from sweet beverages.

“I always have a little piece of candy, a Jolly Rancher or something. I just drink a ginger, put a little cranberry juice in there. Hey, she good to go,” Haddish said.

In April, the ‘Girls Trip’ star told PEOPLE that she has been sober and celibate for about six months. She stood firm on her decision after authorities arrested her on suspicion of DUI in Georgia and Los Angeles.

“I haven’t had a drink since the incident. When I sit back and look at my life, everything that’s crazy that’s happened is because somebody or myself had alcohol in their system,” Haddish explained.

After two traumatic incidents, Haddish now encourages everyone to refrain from drinking, saying it will help them to see improvements.

“You’re going to have your snatched body back, you’re going to see your relationships will be better and you’ll stop dealing with people you don’t need to be dealing with,” the actress stated.

Tiffany Steps Back Into The Dating Pool

As The Shade Room previously reported, Tiffany has also made abstaining from sex a huge priority. In fact, she believes that drinking and sex actually go hand-in-hand.

“With alcohol my mind would just be like ‘You’re horny, let’s just do it.’” Now, she says, “I be like ‘nah, nope.’”

Despite her thoughts and beliefs, that doesn’t mean Tiffany is completely out of the dating game. In fact, she mentioned that she takes a very communicative approach with the men she’s dating.
