He also replied to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s congratulatory message and his comment that Canada stands ready with the Indian government to advance the relationship between the nations’ peoples’ — anchored to human rights, diversity, and the rule of law.
Thanking him for his wishes, Modi said, “India looks forward to working with Canada based on mutual understanding and respect for each other’s concerns.”
India-Canada ties have been under a strain over the activism of Khalistani separatists in the North American country.
