Sunak’s mistakes:
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had last year highlighted two main issues in the public domain. He discussed the prospects of a tax cuts and the issue of immigration which has been a long- standing issue in the UK. While they remain populist issues, the Conservatives have done little to tackle the real issues that have affected the people of the UK.
The PM has not focused much on the economy which according to Professor John remains a main issue. The UK had entered into recession and has only recently recovered with a slight growth of 0.6% between January 2024 and March 2024. Another key issue which has impacted the Conservatives is the status of the National Health Service (NHS). Many of their services are inadequate and outdated. Further, the lack of skilled personnel has led to a massive delay in securing appointments for the patients.
Survey results:
Various national surveys which have been conducted reveal that the Conservatives are heading for a massive loss and many of the sitting Ministers will also lose in the upcoming elections.
