A recent study conducted by kryptocasinos.com scored the top nationwide festivals out of 100 based on their popularity across Google, Instagram, and TikTok, revealing a unique index score that names America’s favorite music festivals of 2024. 

1. Coachella – 81.83/100

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Coachella tops the list. With a star-studded line up including Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat and Tyler, the Creator the summer festival accrued an impressive 1.5 million Instagram posts tagging the festival and over 5 billion TikTok views, making it a viral sensation.

Famous for its star-studded lineup and trendy atmosphere, Coachella continues to draw massive crowds and dominate social media feeds every year. Its iconic status as a must-attend event for music enthusiasts solidifies its position as the leader in the festival rankings.

2. South by Southwest – 81.12/100

Close to the top spot, South by Southwest (SXSW) takes second place. Featuring an eclectic line-up, including Japanese singer-songwriter Ako and electro-hop duo HYPNOSIS THERAPY, this festival’s TikTok viewership eclipsed Coachella by almost 10 billion with an overall total of 14.2 billion views, and 5 million Instagrams posts tagging the festival.

Taking place in Austin, Texas, this multifaceted festival famously extends far beyond the music realm, making it a cultural phenomenon celebrated by creatives worldwide. 

3. Rolling Loud – 62.65/100

Ranking third overall is Rolling Loud, the largest hip-hop festival in the world with two weekends in the USA. Rolling Loud has been headlined by some of the biggest artists in the world including A$AP Rocky, J.Cole and Nicki Minaj. As a result, the festival has accrued 172 million TikTok views across 14,000 videos and almost 500,000 Instagram posts tagging the festival.

Originating in Florida, Rolling Loud has now evolved and set up shop in California, as well as various locations around the world. That means everyone has the opportunity to witness some of the most eclectic, talented artists in the world in one of the most unique festivals known to man.

4. Shaky Knees – 62.41/100

Just missing out on a place in the top three is the summertime Shaky Knees music festival. Shaky Knees features a healthy mix of old and new, with recent star Noah Kahn headlining the festival alongside the 80’s icon Billy Idol. As a result of this lineup, Shaky Knees was tagged in over 45,000 TikTok videos with a viewership of over 1 billion and over 2 million Instagram posts tagging the festival.

Hosted in Atlanta, Georgia, this festival features multiple stages and an array of experiences beyond the music. It is both a full on weekend and also fully warranting of its place in the top five US festivals.

5. Lollapalooza – 61.63/100

Rounding out the top five is Lollapalooza. As a weekend filled with exciting acts such as SZA, Future x Metro Boomin, and Blink-182, it is a music lover’s dream. Despite having the second lowest TikTok figures within the top ten – 10,000 videos and 95.5 million views – Lollapalooza has the third highest search volume within the top ten festivals.

Hosted annually in Chicago, Illinois, Lollapalooza features 8 stages and over 170 unique bands from around the world. It is a true bucketlist festival for music lovers.

Methodology: 

Using Google Keyword Planner, average monthly searches were conducted for a list of US festivals to determine the most searched-for events. The resultant ranking was compiled by considering Google search volumes, Instagram hashtag counts as well as TikTok video and view counts across the past 12 months.
