Dawn Richard’s Attorney Issues Statement About Diddy’s Indictment

According to CNN, Richard’s attorney, Arick Fudali, has informed the outlet that the singer is “grateful” that the Department of Justice “decided to pursue” charges against Diddy. Additionally, the singer is reportedly looking forward to a “fair trial.”

It’s been stressful, and it’s been tough,” Fudali explained. “She’s subjected herself to a lot of ridicule. But seeing the DOJ come forward with an indictment has been really encouraging.”

Fudali adds that Richard is “happy to see that there’s been a striking similarity between the indictment and the allegations” made in her civil suit.

“A lot of the allegations are substantially similar, such as the sex trafficking and the forced labor, constricting their movement, and such,” the lawyer reportedly concluded.

According to NBC News, Fudali also elaborated on his thoughts outside of the 54-year-old’s court hearing on Tuesday, September 17.

“So, like many alleged victims, Ms. Richard suffered in silence for a long time,” he added. “Mr. Combs is a very powerful individual. It’s very difficult to come out against someone like Mr. Combs, but it was seeing Cassie file her lawsuit and go public that really gave her [Richard] a sense of empowerment, that it was her turn, and it was her time to come forward with her allegations.”

As The Shade Room previously reported, Richard accused the 54-year-old of sexual abuse in a recently filed suit. Additionally, the singer alleged Diddy inappropriately touched her on numerous occasions. Furthermore, Richard alleged that she witnessed Diddy’s verbal abuse toward women and his physical abuse of Cassie.

Cassie & Lil Rod’s Attorneys React to The Music Mogul’s Arrest

In an earlier report published by CNN, the outlet shared a statement from Cassie’s lawyer, Douglas Wigdor. Wigdor remained brief while acknowledging the “numerous inquiries” his firm has reportedly received for comment on the recent events.

“In response to the numerous inquiries we have received regarding the indictment of Sean Combs, neither Ms. Ventura nor I have any comment,” Wigdor stated. “We appreciate your understanding, and if that changes, we will certainly let you know.”

As The Shade Room previously reported, Cassie accused the 54-year-old of sexual abuse, trafficking, and assault in a suit filed in November 2023. The suit was privately settled. However, Cassie alleged that she was brutally beaten and raped by the music mogul. Additionally, the singer alleged she was forced to engage in nonconsensual sex acts and other alleged offenses.

Additionally, Tyrone Blackburn, an attorney for Lil Rod and two other victims who have accused Diddy of sexual misconduct, also spoke out on the evening of Monday, September 16.

“We leave the criminal aspect of this case in the hands of the people and justice system,” Blackburn stated, per CNN. “As for the civil cases, we await our time for the facts to reveal themselves and seek the justice our clients deserve. We knew this was coming. The evidence is very clear, and it was only a matter of time. This is an important step towards justice for all of Mr. Combs’ victims, including my clients. Justice will prevail.”

As The Shade Room previously reported, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones worked as a music producer for Combs and accused him of sexual harassment and assault. Additionally, Rod accused Diddy of subjecting him to unwanted sexual advances by his associates. Furthermore, he alleged Diddy “groomed him into having sex.”

In the suit, Rod reportedly detailed his speculation of being drugged and raped by the music mogul.

More Details On Diddy’s Federal Charges

As The Shade Room previously reported, Diddy’s federal charges were revealed the morning after he was taken into FBI custody on Monday, September 16. The 54-year-old has been charged with three felony counts of “racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.”

Per The Shade Room, a 14-page indictment asserts that Diddy utilized his business enterprises to “abuse, threaten, and coerce women and others” to satisfy his sexual desires.

“…COMBS relied on the employees, resources, and influence of the multi-faceted business empire that he led and controlled — creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in, and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice,” the indictment reads.

Additionally, the suit noted that Diddy utilized “freak offs” after luring women into romantic relationships. The freak offs allegedly forced the women and others to participate in extended sexual acts with male sex workers. Furthermore, the acts were recorded and used by Diddy as leverage to keep individuals compliant with his desires.

Lastly, the indictment accuses Diddy of transporting individuals across state and international lines. He allegedly did so for sexual acts and prostitution by “means of force, threats of force, fraud, and coercion.”

To note, the United States District Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York is urging those with more information on Diddy’s alleged actions to call the Homeland Security tip line at 1-877-4-HSITIP. Or to email Sextrafficking_outreach@hsi.dhs.gov.
