TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe has signed to Sub Pop for his debut solo LP, due next year. The first look at the record comes in the form of “Magnetic,” with a self-directed video in which Adebimpe performs in an alley beside a high-energy dancer. Watch it go down below.

Sub Pop co-founder Jonathan Poneman said of the signing, in a press release, “We heartily welcome Tunde Adebimpe to Sub Pop’s roster of artists. His inclusion makes the whole lot better—and a whole lot classier! We’ve waited 20-plus years for Sub Pop to earn the chance to be Tunde Adebimpe’s label.”

News of Adebimpe’s solo album comes as TV on the Radio return to the road after a long pause, playing shows in New York, Los Angeles, and London next month. “Magnetic” is Adebimpe’s formal solo debut, though he released a loosie, “People,” in 2010, to benefit the American Civil Liberties Union, the Movement for Black Lives, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
