Beyoncé has won Best Country Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards for Cowboy Carter. Beyoncé triumphed in the category over Chris Stapleton (Higher), Kacey Musgraves (Deeper Well), Post Malone (F-1 Trillion) and Lainey Wilson (Whirlwind). Taylor Swift presented the award.

In her acceptance speech, Beyoncé said, “Wow, I really was not expecting this. Wow. I want to thank God. Oh my God! That I’m able to still do what I love after so many years. Oh, my God. I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this, this album. We worked so hard on it. I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent. Wow! I’d like to thank my beautiful family, all of the artists that were collaborators, thank you; this wouldn’t have been this album without you. I’d like to thank God again and my fans, and I still am in shock, so thank you much for this honor.”

Best Country Album is an important win for Beyoncé—an artist who already boasts the most Grammy wins in the ceremony’s history. In fact, this is the first year Beyoncé has been nominated in the country category, despite entering her Lemonade track “Daddy Lessons” nearly a decade ago. (The Recording Academy rejected it from that group.) Upon revealing the artwork for Cowboy Carter, back in March 2024, Beyoncé spoke of the criticism she’s faced while seeking acceptance within country music.

Earlier in the evening, Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus won the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the Cowboy Carter track “II Most Wanted.” She went on to win Album of the Year.
