Unas, the ninth and final ruler of Egypt’s Fifth Dynasty (2494–2345 BC), is best known today for his pyramid, which features the earliest known Pyramid Texts—religious inscriptions that mark a significant milestone in Egyptian history. These texts, decorating the walls of his burial chamber, represent the oldest and most extensive religious document discovered from ancient Egypt.
