Here’s What The Texas Man Allegedly Did With His Dad’s Dead Body
Per the San Antonio Express-News, authorities from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office were reportedly dispatched to Gibson’s home on August 8. The officers were reportedly called to conduct a welfare check on an elderly man who lived at the residence.
When officers arrived, they believed they made contact with the man through his Ring doorbell camera. However, they were mistaken.
“Somebody answered as if it was [the victim], but the deputy got the sense that it was not him,” Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar reportedly explained. “Later on in the day, he was able to make contact with some family members who said, ‘That voice on that Ring is not our father.’”
According to the outlet, family members entered the residence and discovered Gibson to be the individual communicating with officers. Once the cops entered the residence, they reportedly found a “refrigerator chained shut” in the garage.
Upon its opening, cops discovered the body of Gibson’s 76-year-old father.
“Family members are saying they have not heard from or seen their father in several months,” Sheriff Salazar reportedly explained. “There’s some indicators the suspect had been living in the house with those remains and possibly cashing checks in the name of the victim.”
According to Law & Crime, Sheriff Salazar also noted that it remains unclear whether Gibson murdered his father.
“It’s too early to tell if the victim was actually murdered, but what we have is a badly decomposed body that’s been there for some time,” he explained.
The outlet adds that an autopsy is currently underway to determine the 76-year-old’s cause of death. According to PEOPLE, the identity of Gibson’s father has not been made public.
A Father In Arizona Was Recently Arrested For Similar Alleged Actions
As The Shade Room previously reported, a father in Arizona was recently arrested and charged in July. At the time, the body of Joseph Gregory Antonsen’s nine-year-old son was discovered decomposing on his couch.
At the time, authorities asserted that the child’s corpse had been “inside of the residence for an extended period of time.”
Additionally, the man’s residence had no running water and appeared unlivable. Antonsen was reportedly charged with negligent homicide and child abuse.
